Teamsters, Stop & Shop reach agreement to avoid strikes

FREETOWN, Mass. —
Teamsters and Stop & Shop have reached a tentative agreement averting potential strikes at the grocery chain’s locations across New England.
The agreement is a new, six-year contract for workers at Stop & Shop's Freetown distribution center.
Last week, workers at the center picketed, citing contract disputes concerning health care benefits for workers and the possible closure of the Freetown facility.
