Horse Phlebotomy!

Saint Stephens Day, December 26th, was considered a propitious time for horse phlebotomy. Horses were to be ridden to a sweat and their blood let immediately after, to prevent illness and preserve their health for the coming year. Hand embroidered tribute to a very special horse. I do not know if he was properly bled according to custom, but there is a very good chance that he was.
