Not a huge increase, but an increase nonetheless.

I remember how for a very long time the deduction for a child was fixed at some amount ($600? I'm not entirely sure.) for quite a few years. I vividly recall my dad commenting that the amount wasn't at all close to what it cost to raise a child. And there were six of us, some I'm guessing my parents paid little or no income taxes. Interestingly enough, I do not recall if they got a significant, or even a small tax refund. Hmmm. Not sure what to make of this, and both parents are long since gone, so I can't ask them.
