Anyone has been to the EFTPS site recently?
This is the site for Federal payments, we use it for estimated payments. Yes, the last one is not due until Jan 15 2021 but I always pay both the Federal and the State in December.
I have been using it for 10 years. I knew there was trouble when I was met with a "celebration" of a "new and improved" page.
Could not login, could not login. Calling customer service I was told that they are swamped.
So chose the option of "change password." Chose the old one and was told that the new one has to have 12 to 30 characters. Mine was 8, was OK for the last 10 yeas. Yes, numbers and letter, lower case and upper. So I had to add at least four more characters. Still not valid. Have to have a"special character" - from the ones above the numbers row.
Had a sigh of relief when it welcomed both of us, thus I managed to tickle its memory.
With so many characters of course my first login failed. Had to be very careful in entering each one.
But "they" accepted the submission.
And to do this to seniors!

(48,671 posts)Had to start the whole thing again. Bank info., SSN, used the same convoluted password and was in.
Probably will have to repeat it in two months.
Sigh.

Meaning that one must do it TODAY (the 14th by 8p ET). The 15th is too late.
"You can always make a tax payment by calling our voice response system at 1.800.555.3453. " (but it has the same deadline as eftps.gov).
