I never complete it though.

I print it out and mail it in and never do the electronic filing.

For the rest of YOUR life you get *reminders* from them telling you that you have not submitted your taxes yet and to do so right now!

social security number, a phone number or email address, financial details, to give a hacker a gold mine?

Decline sharing that info so that it doesn't end up on other databases and servers, yes, good idea, but still whoever hacks into wherever TurboTax users' info is kept has got all they could want.
