Because apparently India's press has still managed to avoid the high level of corporate control, or perhaps because India actually has/(had?) a Constitutional right to education - there has miraculously been a debate about the normally suppressed GATS that never occurred in the US in 1994 when the GATS was passed as the "Uruguay Round Agreements Act" basically giving away our elf-imagined rights to have a government communicate such important changes to the public it seems that whatever Administration was in power in 1994 did NOT. However, one can read about the issues that we should have been able to read about 20 years ago, in the Indian (the most populous nation in the world) press over the last year. (My hunch is that the US may manage to get them to signup to abolish public health care and education in exchange for the commercial model by promising them ~~~access to healthcare~~~ access to lots of "Mode Four" jobs.
