University of Louisville president resigns amid FBI, NCAA probes
LOUISVILLE | BY STEVE BITTENBENDER
The University of Louisville's Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of the school's president, officials said on Thursday, amid investigations by the FBI and NCAA.
James Ramsey will receive $690,542 to leave the position immediately following his resignation late Wednesday, university spokeswoman Cindy Hess said. He will remain as president of the school's private foundation, she said.
Ramsey became head of the public university in 2002 but in recent years drew criticism as it became the target of inquiries from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National Collegiate Athletic Association.
The FBI is looking at whether top university officials misused federal money and the NCAA is investigating whether a university employee paid women to strip and have sex with basketball players, according to media reports.
Ramsey also drew public ire last year after hosting a Halloween-themed luncheon at which he and other staff members dressed in stereotypical Hispanic garb.

(5,737 posts)The previous board would not go along with Bevin on this matter, so he replaced the entire board. The that Attorney General (A Dem and son of the past governor) filed suit to prevent Bevin's actions on this and other matters. So far a judge has blocked some of Bevin's actions and this particular action is still pending before the judge.
But on another note, Ramsey is a sack of shit and needs to go.

(13,546 posts)Louisville is a good school, it's the second largest university in our state, this is a mess and I hope it gets straightened out soon, the students deserve that. It also gave our sickening Gov a chance to show his ham-handed power and try to reload the U of L board of trustees with his own cronies (his Lt. Gov already said that she didn't think public education was fair to taxpayers).
