Here in Hershey he was a huge supporter of the Children’s Miracle Network and the PA Special Olympics. He was a good guy.

He was a very loyal Democrat. I remember him campaigning with then Democratic nominee for president Senator Joe Biden in Pennsylvania several years ago. I am thankful to him for all of his activism on race as he came from a bi-racial background as I did, so I always followed his career as a kid. He spoke out for not just steel unions but for unions everywhere, he spoke out on racial equality and he always fought for what was right, for what was decent and just. He bought me a great deal of happiness and joy growing up as a kid watching football in the late 60's and into the 70's, and I sit here remembering that Immaculate Reception and remember seeing that ball strike off of one of the most evil, rotten, dirty and always wanting to hit or hurt someone assholes ever Jack Tatum who crippled Darryl Stingly, and who he never apologized to Stingly. I'm so happy the Immaculate Reception happened against the then Oakland Raiders. Damn, I just saw Franco being interviewed on television 3 months or so ago. He made a statement along the lines of still "Being able to do something at his age." Franco, you will be missed, because you did so much on and especially off the field for humankind .....
