Related: About this forumPetition to Congress to CUT ADMINISTRATORS' PAY -- nationwide!
They bully teachers.
They help state governments try to break our unions.
They teach no one.
It's time to fight back. This petition to Congress explains itself. Please read it. If you agree, please sign it, and then please spread it to others.

Will this solve all of America's school problems?
No, but it's a good place to start.

(14,498 posts)There are too many of them, most of them trying to figure out ways to justify their existence. Like writing memos, for instance. ( Or should I say, cut-and-pasting and reissuing memos that they --- or someone else--- wrote last year.) Puzzling out this BS is just an added burden/distraction for the teacher and results in less productivity.
Two things are certain, however: 1. we are attracting the WRONG people into school administration and, 2. they are being attracted for all the WRONG reasons.
I signed the petition despite the fact that it's , imo, slightly off target.
It succeeds in drawing attention to yet another educational "elephant in the living room": the quality of school leadership. In general, the quality is *abysmal*.

(20,634 posts)It has been my experience that the best teachers don't go into administration anyway. Some, like my aunt, will do it for their last 3 years so it will increase their teacher retirement. Great teachers want to TEACH and they didn't go into education to make a lot of money. I was a classroom teacher in Texas back in the 80's and most of the middle and high school principles and assistant principles were ex-coaches. The thing is, in Texas, the head football coach generally makes more than the principle, so the principles were MEDIOCRE ex-coaches. And yes, they are bullies.
