Two of the more interesting points to me:

1) Rahm's initial offer took out all mentions of caps on class size from the contract (something i never saw mentioned in the media). Teachers got caps put back in (though not reduced).

2) Rahm wanted a 5-year contract, assuring labor peace until *after* the next election. Teachers got their three-year contract, putting the next contract negotiations in the middle of the next election. Smooth.

I can't figure out how these people keep getting elected in Chicago, frankly.

I complain about New Yorkers. But... good god.... that's quite a political system that's evolved in the windy city. If the pols aren't in jail they're "reforming" education.

Not just locally; *nationally*.

Aren't we lucky.
