Yay!
Problem is who will replace him; but I can't imagine that it could be worse. Gove is the worst we've had since Sir Keith Joseph.
I know this won't be of direct relevance to most of you, but since you have Education Secretary trouble too, I though you might like to know.

But in either case... we have trouble. So, yes, thanks. And we WOULD like to know.
What's your take: was Gove recognized as a floperoo? At long last?

(41,302 posts)And is therefore sacking or moving some of his more unpopular ministers (Gove will now be Chief Whip, which somehow sounds appropriate the way he ran Education). Also the party is becoming increasingly unpopular with women voters, so he is appointing more women ministers, such as Nicky Morgan here.

Ask 10 adults on the street here "Who is the United States Secretary of Education?" and 9 and 1/2 will not be able to identify him.

(32,375 posts)At least Gove is the correct party for his ideology, over here we have to pretend Duncan is a liberal.
Anyone know anything about the new person? And does anyone think this reshuffle was a result of the huge public sector demonstration on the 10th?
LeftishBrit
(41,302 posts)Though under Blair we had Education Secretaries David Blunkett and Charles Clarke, who were to the right of some Tories (though still to the left of Gove).
I don't think that the reshuffle has anything to do with the public sector strike - it had probably been planned for a while. Overall, the Cabinet's political balance has if anything been moved to the Right, even though Education is probably an improvement.
