Reusable K cups for your Keurig coffee machine.

I always wondered how many of those little plastic Keurig cartridges ended up.in land fills. I guess the answer is all of them, which is a very large number. The Keurig machine is a big step backward for the environment. But I have noticed little cartridges made of metal screen material. The idea is, you load them with coffee and clean them out for reuse. Makes sense. If I had a K cup machine, I would get them.

You can buy a reusable one at most grocery stores next to the filters. I love mine, too. flying_wahini May 2024 #4

I clean out the grounds from the cups after brewing, throw them in the compost. No waste. Anyhow, the coffee that comes in the disposable K-cups kind of sucks.

I thought I read that Keurig had put in some technology whereby it could discern between a Keurig brand cup and others and would only work for the K-cup.

... that prevent the use of older style reusable pods.

Bad Keurig!

Fortunately their patent has expired and there are other brands of the machines that still accept the old style refillable pods.

My own ways are rough. If I decided to maintain my coffee habit at all I'd probably scoop instant coffee into a cold cup of water and microwave it. My wife brought home the Keurig and I'll confess it's a convenient kitchen gadget that makes better coffee than I would.
