Cutting-edge technology helps researchers track hurricanes - NBC News



Researchers are sending a dozen remotely-controlled Saildrones into the ocean off the coast of the United States to help track and better understand hurricanes. NBC News’ Priya Sridhar travels into the Gulf of Mexico as one of these 23-foot devices packed with cameras and sensors is released to begin its mission. - Aired on 08/04/2024.

Getting lots of rain here in northeast FL, and some good breezes, but no tropical-storm/hurricane strength winds. At least, not yet anyway,...

That did damage, lost power and washed out roads and took out waterfront structures all the way to Vermont. And lately we've also had some severe wind and rain storms and last week we had a tornado warning! Not to mention numerous power outages. Last year I met this really nice older couple from near Tampa here for the season who said they missed more than one hurricane and they're back this year. I live just south of the tourist mecca of Lake George, NY. Hope Donna continues to miss you!
