Help installing home solar power

Last edited Mon Sep 10, 2012, 07:33 PM - Edit history (1)

I have found that getting all the permitting -- from the city& stat & power company -- to install home solar panels is nearly impossible! Any one have insight into federal help to get them installed?

I can't help much, but I do have a friend in Nevada who has solar panels installed and I could ask if he had problems and what the process was for him. But I have a feeling that every state and locality will be different. I'll let you know if I can find out how he did it.

Oh, and welcome to DU.

I just emailed him to see what he has to say. And also, just a tip---asking for legal and medical advise is frowned upon at DU. I realize from reading your post that you are not really asking for legal advise, but the title isn't clear on that. You may want to edit the title to just say "help" instead of "legal help".

and he said he had no problems, but had a contractor install his solar panels, and he did all the permitting.

He also said that there is an EPA regulation that prohibits discrimination or any interference with people installing them, so you may want to check with the EPA for help.

in your area, then I don't think you ought to have much of a problem as that company ought to know all the requirements for getting the proper permits.
