Question about microwave ovens....

We're snowbirds. Mobile home type snowbirds.

We leave, and our little tin can gets up to 110 degrees for days at a time here in the desert.

We leave water buckets around to keep things from drying out, but my wife is worried that the high heat will hurt a microwave oven.

I tried to tell her that we have two TVs, a DVD player, radios, coffee maker... that seems to survive nicely.

Any input..? Anybody have experience..?

things ever made.

I had one in New Orleans for over 20 years that was still going strong until Katrina. And it would get extremely hot in there at times.

It works like a charm, although the bulb blew out a few years ago and I don't know how to get to it to replace it. Not a big deal, it doesn't have a function in using the oven.

This microwave was from Houston, and it was hot there. It has moved several times without a problem. I think you are right, they are close to indestructible.

The spring that operated the latch to hold the door shut broke, me being the frugal and energy efficient person I am bought a generic spring at the hardware store and replaced it.

It would still work before I replaced the spring, you just had to hold the door shut.

The actual microwave generating portion of a microwave is pretty darn simple, that's why they're so rugged.

twenty minutes continuously. They're designed for it. No problem.
