After numerous issues over the years the final straw that made me give up on them was my last Chicago run. I was in a sleeper car and had been paying attention to the storms rolling across the plains. I knew via my internet connection about 2 hours outside of Chicago that Amtrak had cancelled all departing trains from Chicago. Nobody on the train informed any of the passengers about this until about 5 minutes before we hit the station in Chicago. I brought it up to the porters and was shocked at the callousness of the Amtrak personnel on the train and when I got to the lounge. Basically it was "it sucks to be you, good luck finding accommodations and transportation. Pretty pictures but I'll never ride em again.
