Amtrak yesterday announced its Winter Park Express service in Colorado will start earlier and run more often this season. ... Winter Park Express trains will begin running the last two weekends in December instead of a January launch. The seasonal service will expand to five days weekly after Jan. 1, 2025, according to an Amtrak press release.

With 69 round trips this season — 29 more than last season — the Winter Park Express will serve skiers and non-skier passengers traveling from Denver to the Fraser Valley. The service will operate the weekends of Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29, plus Jan. 3-5, 2025. Expanded service will begin Jan. 9 and run Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays through March 31, 2025. ... The trains will serve both the Winter Park Resort and neighboring Fraser, Amtrak officials said.

Passenger rail along the Front Range and through the U.S. Highway 40 Mountain Corridor is a state priority, and the Winter Park Express shows public desire for more mass transit options through the mountains and beyond, Amtrak and state officials said.
