Vegenaise. What happened?

Anyone else a user of this formerly fabulous product where it's turning into liquid shit in their fridge? Yes, my fridge is working fine and I've tried changing temps, but it seems that it's reverting back to syrupy goo regardless. The next jar I toss will be the last item I buy from them.

with a blender, stick blender or food processor.

If it's been in there long enough to smell weird, though, don't bother. When in doubt, chuck it out.

I've begun to use hummus more and more as a stand in for mayonnaise. Like in a sandwich or panini. I get the big economy tub two-packs from Costco and put the second one in the freezer until I need it.

Soymilk Mayo

Ingredients:

1/3 cup soy milk (I use Silk unsweetened)

3/4 teaspoon apple cider vinegar, distilled white vinegar, or lemon juice

1 tablespoon dijon or yellow mustard (not grain mustard)

1/2 teaspoon salt, optional

2/3 cup canola oil

4 tablespoons canola oil, if needed

Directions:

1. Start with soy milk directly from the fridge. Pour in the vinegar, and let it sit for a minute or so. It'll get a little chunky. This is a good thing.

2. With a stick blender, blend the soy milk mixture well. If you don't have a stick blender, use a regular blender. If you have neither, please go and get one, as this requires the high speed of the blender to get the emulsion going.

3. Once the soy milk and vinegar are well blended, plop in the mustard. Blend well. Add the salt. Blend well. Essentially, you're starting to whip some air into the emulsion, and making sure that the initial emulsion is very strong, to stand up to the oil.

4. Then, 1 teaspoon at a time (for the first 3 teaspoons), add the 2/3 cup oil while blending. If you have a stick blender, move it around a bit. Then, add the remaining oil (of the 2/3 cup) in a steady stream, while blending the whole time.

5. In total, it should come together in about 3 minutes. Keep the stick blender moving continuously through the emulsion to get it completely combined. If the mayo is too runny, add the reserved 4 tablespoons oil, 1 tablespoon at a time, until it's to your desired thickness. Chill.

If you substitute olive oil for canola oil, make the mayo a tiny bit more runny than you think you'll want it, because olive oil sets up and thickens in the fridge. This mayo keeps for about a week.

Makes: 1 cup mayo, Preparation time: 7 minutes

I do have a stick blender and will use that versus the other tools that work best with larger volumes. Maybe I'll get some grapeseed oil as that's even healthier than rapeseed (canola), or olive oils

My problem has been with the Grapeseed (purple label) type. Next time I will try another variety, but if it goes liquid, too, I'm done with Vegenaise.

This is the 2nd vegan product in my life, that has changed for the worse, recently. Aubrey Organics has a skin toner that I have been using for over a decade. They changed the formula, raised the price 353% (!!) & as a last insult, they put the bottle in a box. It used to just be the bottle, but now they've added a box to the packaging. WTF? When you have the word "Organics" in your company name, I expect you to have consideration for the environment, too. I wrote a snail mail letter to them over a month ago & have yet to hear back from them. I am seriously disappointed in the new product & the lack of response. Their Facebook page says the new formula is "more concentrated." I wrote that I didn't think it was 353% more concentrated.

BTW, wrote a snail mail letter to Vegenaise, too. It went out this week. Will post back if I hear from them.

Ok, rant over.

I told them I had two large jars & one small jar go liquid on me. They wrote back, with generous coupons, & said that if Vegenaise gets too cold, it will do that. They recommend their vendors store it/stock it in the warmest section of their dairy section/shelves. Same at home - they recommended storing it on the door of the fridge.

I bought a new jar - free with coupon - at a different store & have had no issues. I think I would cry an ocean if I had to give up this product.

Not sure if it's true, but I always get coupons when I write. Also, I save my grocery store receipts & sometimes I will copy a few & highlight the item, to show that I am a loyal customer & that I purchase their products a lot. The coupons are very generous when I do that.
