A veteran firefighter was demoted after posting to Facebook controversial comments about killing Pit Bulls.
The Torrington, Connecticut Fire Department said Tuesday that Richard Prince had been stripped of his "Deputy Fire Marshall" title.
Prince posted the comments on a page titled "The Pit Bull Propaganda Machine Revealed."
They say he mentioned in detail how to kill the dogs.
Torrington's Fire Chief said the posts went too far.
"Per our investigation, we found out that he violated city policy by using city equipment, city phone, and city time to do the posting for some of it," Chief Gary Brunoli said.
Prince, a 24-year veteran of the Department, was demoted after the investigation, the Chief said.
When that happened, he took a $10,000 pay cut.
"What he said is very graphic, and it's not appropriate for an employee that works for me to be acting in that manner," said Brunoli.
Eyewitness News found the comments online.
In them Prince wrote about carrying duct tape in his work vehicle since he rubs elbows with a few Pit Bulls daily.
Prince added that he hasn't seen a friendly one.
He went on to write how he would kill one using the duct tape around the dog's eyes, then wrapping their whole snout so the animal couldn't breathe.

Facebook doesn't seem to be very "animal-friendly"

(64,593 posts)on pitbulls that died from this sort of thing in his response area/district. Cowards like this are one of two things: 1. idiot wastes of their parents' sexual encounters or; 2. liars.
I have to go with liar on this one because of the above, you know, just posts on Facebook but no evidence of a crime. I would hope some sort of investigation would happen in regards to Richard Prince, cousin-fucker extraordinaire (pick up the name, Google) had he made a habit of this in reality, not on Second Life or some other alternate reality where he had a penis he could be both proud of AND see (reality sucks, dude). It would appear to me that Richard Prince is a big-talker, little-doer (his wife, if he could chloroform a woman into such a sadness would confirm) most likely.
24 year fireman. Probably was once a hero, now just a zero. Yet still, too stupid to be either.

(49,212 posts)Just wanted to point that out in case anybody was particularly distressed by the story.
If he'd made a habit of putting his hand near the business end of unfamiliar dogs of any breed, he'd have wound up on a first name basis with the triage nurse at the local ER. Even people who know what the hell they're doing and aren't scared or hateful (dogs pick up on that kind of thing!) get themselves into trouble sticking their hands near the mouth of dogs they don't know.
Don't get me wrong, lying about something like that in such a specific, graphic way means he's a creep and shouldn't have any sort of power, but it's still an obvious lie. People who kill dogs because they're afraid of them usually use poisoned food. Sometimes they shoot them, but usually it's poison. They don't risk their own skin, the whole point is that they're afraid.
