What is a good subtitute for butter, that does not contain palm oil
I was eliminating butter from the food I eat, and when I looked at many brands of margarine at the grocery store, they all had palm oil. And Orangutans are going extinct because of people chopping down forests to grow palm oil. And then I think there is just general deforestation due to palm oil products.
Thanks

(6,410 posts)Empty calories, who needs that? Don't miss it, don't use it, don't cook with it.
Use canola oil for cooking, don't need much in non stick fry pans. The last container of 2L lasted for 6 months.

(123,524 posts)and that is really deadly. I don't know if it is still dangerous. Butter is a healthy fat if used in moderation.

I make my own (YouTube lessons). Store bought is expensive. Use unsalted buttered
Olive & Avocado Oil as well.
But I had to reduce oils so I now use broths to cook & fresh lemon juice instead of salt.

(14,742 posts)I like the flavor combo.. I went off the rails one weekend and made my own butter from grass fed organic heavy cream. Stuck it in a food processor and wipped it up. When I got tired of cooking with butter (don't use it much) I made gee from what was left..
The EVOO and gee tastes nice for sautéed onions or mushrooms.. Lo heat. Avocado oil for high heat with it's high smoke point... YMMV

It is Plant-Based, dairy-free and gluten-free. In addition, Country Crock® Plant Butter production results in less than half the greenhouse gas emissions of dairy butter production."
We rarely cook with butter, but do use this variety sparingly in baking and also as a spread. Not only is it healthy, it's quite good tasting and makes an excellent spread.
Oops sorry i just found the ingredients. So it does contain palm oil:
Blend Of Plant-Based Oils (Palm Kernel, Canola, Palm Fruit, And Olive Oil), Water, Salt, Pea Protein, Sunflower Lecithin, Citric Acid, Natural Flavor, Vitamin A Palmitate, Beta Carotene (Color)
