My dog confuses me...
She growls at me when I touch her and then if I stop she starts nudging my hand until I start again. Then she starts growling. It's rather comical, but at the same time kind of off-putting.
I used to be her favorite. She worshiped me and had to be where I was. Something changed and now she rarely comes by me (unless food is involved) and instead spends her time with Paul.
If I take the dogs to bed with me, though, she tries to lay on my side or chest and insists on being rubbed.
She's a weirdo, but she's still a pretty nice pup.

(16,866 posts)OK, just kidding about that.
No, nothing has changed that I'm aware of. She did get upset with me one day (and nipped at my hand) because she thought I was coming to take away her chew toy, but I am uncertain if that is the cause of the angst.

Cut her some slack until after President Obama wins...

(64,592 posts)That's not growling, buddy. That's chuffing. "Growling" is negative, aggressive, a warning. Chuffing is language. Well, to a dog anyway. She's talking to you. I've placed my bet. SOMEBODY PAY ME!!!! lol!
I won't analyze further (though I could, and you'd be pleased) but just take those times where she lies next to you and insists on attention in a positive way.
She's a beautiful girl.

(30,947 posts)It used to scare anyone who did not know the dog. But it was sort of a way that a cat purrs. She was just expressing pleasure.
