Demand Protection for the Northern Rocky Mountain Gray Wolves
In Defense of Animals
August, 2024
In 2020, the Trump administration removed protections for all remaining US gray wolf populations except the Mexican gray wolf, whose members consist of a subspecies of gray wolves, from the Endangered Species List.
This seems to have been a catalyst for certain states...Montana and Idaho launched a full out war on their wolf populations.
In those two states, in the last twelve months, more than 700 wolves have been hunted down by helicopter, dog, and snowmobiles, and killed via poisons, traps, snares, and bullets.
Wolf hunting often begins with trapping wolves by violent, torturous methods.
They struggle to free themselves from leghold traps before their killers return to shoot or beat them to death.
Hunters' inability to shoot accurately often results in wolves suffering from bullet wounds throughout their bodies and blood loss for prolonged periods in harsh conditions.
For now, Idaho and Montana are free to continue their war on wolves.
Time is running out for this beloved, ecologically vital species.
We must speak up now to urge wolf relisting now!
Join us in urging Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, President Biden, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to complete the task of protecting these endangered wolves by relisting the wolves of the northern Rocky Mountains.
