We're trying a new dinner tonight...
One of my favorite dinners is pot pie. We're going to try something tonight that I'm hoping will work, but not 100% certain.
Paul makes his own pizza crusts. He's going to roll one out thin and try it as the bottom crust to the pizza. We're going to use Upton's Seitan and the gravy recipe I posted a while back, along with some veggies.
I'm excited.

(16,866 posts)The experiment turned out OK. There were a few things that need adjusting.
1) Paul needs to read instructions. He baked it at too high a temperature, which caused it to be a tad well done.
2) The crust he made turned out good, but why he put seasonings in it I do not understand.
Overall, though, I liked it and would definitely eat it again.

(3,593 posts)Was the crust flakey or more pizza calzone like?

(47,675 posts)Mostly it is to catch any spill over (rather than the bottom of the oven), but it also seems to help with avoiding burning pies. The bake time can be extended as a result of this trick, but not by enough to matter. It's a long process to begin with.

(16,866 posts)Yes, it works fabulously! Thank you for the suggestion. It cut out a ton of fat and calories as well. We can each have half the pie for only 559 calories. I will post the recipe here in a while.
