Norway is already one of the richest countries in the world, but they will be much richer. On top of their vast offshore oil reserves, they now found out to have a massive deposit of phosphate. This will instantly make them the world leader of this precious mineral which is used to create fertilizer, batteries, and electric cars.

(24,907 posts)2. Back in the 1970s, the tiny Pacific island nation of Nauru.....
...became the world's wealthiest nation per capita, because of its phosphate resources. Overmining and resulting environmental damage has nearly ruined the island, and the mineral resources have been largely depleted.
Norway would do well to heed its example. (I think they're wise enough to do so.)
