Related: About this forumWe Are On The Brink Of (Another) Nuclear Proliferation. - Good Times Bad Times
A New World Order is being forged--this is not a particularly controversial hypothesis today. We are in the midst of a transition from one order to another. This instability is manifesting itself in many places. The current order is being tested. the shaky security architecture creates a temptation or even a demand to seek new responses to the situation.
This is the case among the closest US allies as the Americans are increasingly signaling a willingness to gradually loosen their global commitments in order to focus their limited resources in key directions in accordance with defined interests. When such a process of disengagement begins the political elites of large and medium-sized countries start to worry and then it is only a matter of time.

(57,511 posts)1. China and Russia are very aggressive, forcing the world to ramp up military spending.
They are making the world a much more dangerous place.
And they are doing this in order to shift the global world order.

(8,341 posts)2. Don't discount the fact that the US foreign policy has been a disaster
since WWII. And the US military has active-duty military troops in 178 countries.

(24,611 posts)3. Worse than proliferation is Putin successfully getting NATO to limit weapons to Ukraine by threatening to use nukes.
There clearly was concern Putin was willing to donate a nuke in Ukraine to get his way. Can we risk calling his bluff?
