(such as they are) are now underfunded, underequipped, and undermanned as Russia is preoccupied with an impreialist war which has now spread to an armed insurrection within its borders. Keeping an eye on Islamic people who have long wanted to separate from Christian Russia (such as it is, they got rid of Jesus and kept the superstition) become a lot less stable. Add to that an opportunist gang of randomly bloodthirsty terrorists, and this is what you are going to start getting.

Yes, Putin and his buddies will twist the whole thing into a gigantic pretzel, trying to blame it on Ukraine. I'm not certain how many people are going to buy it.

It still doesn't explain why security was conspicuously absent at that venue.

Then again, that place has more farm equiment, industrial, and car shows. Maybe they thought people didn't need as much guarding as tractors did.
