Israel Boosts Defenses After Iran Revenge Threat

The Israeli military halted leave for all combat units on April 4 amid concerns of a possible escalation in violence after the killing of Iranian generals in Damascus this week drew threats of retaliation. "In accordance with the situational assessment, it has been decided that leave will be temporarily paused," the military said. On April 3, the military said it had drafted reservists to boost defenses. Iran has vowed revenge for the killing of two of its generals and five military advisers in an air strike on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Damascus on April 1.

If the numbers are correct as to how many rockets Hezbollah has in inventory, and assuming they could be organized enough to fire a large and closely timed volley at Israel, they could overwhelm the Iron Dome system with sheer numbers. Israel has a limited number of systems and each only has 20 rounds on board. It takes time to reload so large volume of enemy rockets could deplete the systems and next wave could get through to targets in Israel. Hezbollah knows that the IDF would massively retaliate which is likely the only reason they haven't done this already.
