Belgrade development, joined by former Trump envoy Ric Grenell, includes a memorial to victims of NATO aggression"
After weathering criticism over its reliance on a gusher of Saudi cash, Jared Kushners investment fund made its first big splash last month when it announced it had signed a $500 million deal with the Serbian government to develop a high end real estate project in downtown Belgrade on the site of a bombed down army building destroyed during the 1999 Kosovo war.
But the fine print of the deal includes a commitment that seems destined to stir up even more international controversy: a pledge by Kushners firm, Affinity Partners, to construct a memorial dedicated to all the victims of NATO aggression an allusion to the U.S.-backed bombing campaign that brought the Serbian government of Slobodan Milosevic to its knees a quarter century ago in response to its relentless campaign of repression and savage massacres of ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.
Among those exercised over the Kushner deal is retired Gen. Wesley Clark, who served as NATO Supreme Allied Commander during the war.

(11,723 posts)He would sell the US out in a heartbeat and probably has. Trump often skipped daily intelligence briefs because he is too stupid to understand them, but Jared, the man who could not get a security clearance without Trump demanding it, was right there taking it all in and asking for even more he had no right to know. How much of that intelligence was shared with Putin and MBS?

(135,848 posts)Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie called it one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes he ever prosecuted as U.S. attorney.
After Charles Kushner discovered his brother-in-law was cooperating with federal authorities, the wealthy real estate executive and father of President Donald Trumps son-in-law, Jared, hatched a scheme for revenge and intimidation.
Kushner hired a prostitute to lure his brother-in-law, then arranged to have the encounter in a New Jersey motel room recorded with a hidden camera and the recording sent to his own sister, the mans wife.
The scheme didnt work. Kushner later pleaded guilty to tax evasion and making illegal campaign donations in a case tailor-made for tabloid headlines.
On Wednesday Trump pardoned Kushner as part of a late-hour clemency spree during the final days of his presidency that has included a slew of campaign aides and allies, among them four of the six Trump associates convicted in the Mueller investigation. He has granted clemency to nearly 50 people in the last week.
The White House in its announcement cited Kushners charitable work since he completed his sentence in 2006 as the reason he deserved clemency.
