Russian authorities have launched a 'referral program' in nine regions, paying up to 100,000 rubles to recruiters finding volunteers for the war against Ukraine. While regions like Yaroslavl and Tatarstan offer the highest rewards, others like Mordovia and Kaluga offer as little as 5,000 rubles, which is hardly more than $50. The State Duma is also pushing for longer military service terms for new citizens. Meanwhile, crackdowns on migrants continue as authorities seek to increase enlistment.
