ZaTelecom channel in Telegram has highlighted the sharp decline in traffic of the US video service in the Russian segment of the Internet.
Traffic congestion has dropped to 20 percent: it now stands at 8.5 points, while before the "slowdown" it was equal to 40. Traffic on YouTube video hosting in Russia has dropped to a level that indicates that the service is completely blocked in the country.
On December 23 in Russia, the website Sboj.rf recorded over 3,300 complaints about the popular service before noon. Most of the complaints came from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Krai, as well as other regions of the Russian Federation. According to users, downloading YouTube videos via mobile networks has become very slow or impossible, which was previously only the case when using Wi-Fi or a cable connection.
The executive director of the Internet Defense Association, Mikhail Klimarev pointed this out. On the Telegram channel under his post, he wrote: "We note: YouTube is de facto blocked in the Russian Federation."
Roskomnadzor - Russia's communications regulator - said it had taken "coercive measures" to block government hosting of Russian propaganda channels. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke of the possibility of such measures during his annual press conference last week.

While they may have more time in their day if they are not watching shorts all the time, how are they going to productively use that time without help from the University of Youtube.
