WASHINGTON For three years, presidential senior advisor and son-in-law Jared Kushner, a man of many portfolios, spent considerable time on a plan aimed at addressing the intractable conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.
He was generally quiet about what he was doing, maintaining a patina of diplomatic circumspection.
Now, however, after the plan was released last week in a White House ceremony with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and no Palestinians in attendance, Kushner seems to have plenty to say mostly harsh criticism of the Palestinians who were not involved in shaping the plan and flatly rejected it.
His tone, current and former officials said, reflects the unlikelihood that the plan will survive, even though it could have far-reaching consequences.
Over the weekend, the 22-nation Arab League unanimously rejected it, despite Kushners assurances that numerous Arab states were on board. The 57-nation Organization of Islamic Cooperation followed suit on Monday.

(3,386 posts)It outlines those things that Israel can do unilaterally with the blessing of this President. Of course the Plan is not acceptable to the Palestinians. It was intended that way. Bibi and Trump were counting on the Palestinians rejecting it (as they have every other plan for over 80 years), and on them not proposing anything of their own. Now Abbas and the PA have done exactly what Bibi and Trump want. They've rejected the Plan, failed to propose anything of their own, and have broken off contact. Israel is now free to annex what it wants.

(4,285 posts)Now, Trump wants to overturn binding international laws and norms to legitimize an apartheid solution for Israel and Palestine. As such, there was no peace plan at the White House last week: Trump simply granted Israel a green light to move toward annexation.
Still, there is one consolation from the dystopian show in Washington: the fallacy of the status quo has been shattered. The international community must shake off the dangerous hallucination pushed forward by the American president. It must join Israelis and Palestinians who are fighting for a different future and help save us from apartheid.
If the international community does not take the reins into its hands and act to stop Trumps plan, the prospect of creating a reality of truth, justice, and peace for both Israelis and Palestinians will, like this divided land itself, go up in smoke.

(3,386 posts)What is the Palestinian Plan? Don't just tell me that the Trump Plan isn't acceptable. I already know that. Why is it the only Plan on the table?

(4,285 posts)He votes Meretz same as I do .
Our peace plan has never changed .
See : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meretz
Ideology
Meretz defines itself as a left-wing, social-democratic party. It sees itself as the political representative of the Israeli Peace movement in the Knesset as well as municipal councils and other local political bodies.
In addition to being a full member of Socialist International and the Progressive Alliance, it has participated in Global Greens conferences.
In the international media, Meretz has been described as left-wing, far-left, social-democratic, dovish, secular, civil libertarian and anti-occupation.
Stated principles
The party emphasises the following principles (not necessarily in order of importance):
Peace between Israel and the Palestinians, based on a two-state solution, as laid out in the Geneva Accord.
Freezing construction of the Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
Human rights issues:
Struggle for the protection of human rights in the Israeli-occupied territories.
Rights of minorities in Israel (such as Israeli Arabs and foreign workers), fight against discrimination and support for affirmative action.
Egalitarianism.
LGBT rights.
Struggle for social justice:
Making Israel a social-democratic welfare state.
Protecting workers' rights and fighting against their exploitation (especially, though not exclusively, in the case of foreign workers and immigrants).
Separation of religion and state and religious freedom.
Liberal education.
Israel's security.
Environmentalism.
Its the only plan on the table because those that hold political power make the plans ..duh .
