A former head of the Mossad intelligence agency told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Israel is enforcing an apartheid system in the West Bank, joining a tiny but growing list of retired officials to endorse an idea that remains largely on the fringes of Israeli discourse and international diplomacy.
Tamir Pardo becomes the latest former senior official to compare Israels treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank to apartheid, a reference to the system of racial separation in South Africa that ended in 1994.
Leading rights groups in Israel and abroad and Palestinians have accused Israel and its 56-year military rule of the West Bank of morphing into an apartheid system that they say gives Palestinians second-class status and is designed to maintain Jewish hegemony from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.
A handful of former Israeli leaders, diplomats and security officials have warned that Israel risks becoming an apartheid state, but Pardos language was even more blunt.

(17,472 posts)Not to mention the Arab world would completely lose their shit if Israel unilaterally created a western border. That border would of course include all the major settlement blocks. Even if that somehow happens, Israel would still have to police the West Bank to prevent terrorist groups from taking over, so Israel would still be doing the same thing they are now, providing security in the absence of a legitimate elected government in "Palestine".
is another one that needs to go. He is corrupt to the bone. He has stolen, like Arafat before him, untold amounts of money. He lives the good life, while people in PA controlled areas suffer.

Tamir Pardo is not a nobody he is listened to here , he is also not the only one
speaking out and he wont be the last .
Bibi is already attacking him for his comments on 'apartheid' but so far its only in
the Hebrew press and on the TV channels this morning .

(6,893 posts)is attacking him. Even without the apartheid remark, Bibi would be attacking Pardo. Bibi's ultra nationalist allies want a Jewish only state from the river to the sea. ANYTHING that is said against that, Bibi will attack.
Bibi and his ultra nationalist allies need to go. How Israel can get rid of them I have no idea. The right wing in Israel just seems to be growing with each election.
