Israel's government has advanced plans for more than 3,400 new homes in settlements in the occupied West Bank.
About 70% of the homes will be built in Maale Adumim, east of Jerusalem, with the rest in nearby Kedar and Efrat, south of Bethlehem.
A minister has said the construction is a response to a deadly Palestinian attack near Maale Adumim two weeks ago.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, a far-right politician who oversees the Civil Administration, said following the meeting that a total of 18,515 homes in West Bank settlements had now been approved over the past year.

The settlements are the fundamental problem. Building more of them is a signal that the Israeli right wing never intends Palestinians to have full human rights, whether in Gaza or the West Bank. They are just people to oppress and steal from.

(46,333 posts)7. Israel is not building those settlements for Palestinians. Cause and effect, Netanyahoo knows what he's doing
"unprecedented surge in settlement activities" across the West Bank since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip". The West Bank has also experienced a spike in violence over the same period.

(17,472 posts)8. Do you agree that terrorist attacks in Israel radicalized Israelis?
They have been subjected to nearly 100 years of terrorism. 1000s of Jews have been murdered.
For nothing more than being Jews.

(46,333 posts)9. Just as the Palestinians have been radicalized by attacks on them.
It's a vicious fucking circle.

Or is that an anti-biblical idea?

They are adding units to existing settlement blocks that would be part of land swaps anyway.
