Yet another appalling consequence of the Zionist genocidal apartheid policy of ethnic cleansing.

(11,136 posts)that "Zionist", "Apartheid", "genocide", "ethnic cleansing", etc., being used predominantly in reference to Israel, have become mere code words to deride Israel, and they no longer convey any other meaningful information. The intention behind using these labels in this way is to normalize them as insults whose originally intended meaning is not to be mentioned or acknowledged, even though examples like the one above and established definitions of these terms routinely repudiate such attempts.

(11,136 posts)In my experience, those who use the mentioned terms as pejoratives, never clarify definitions. The aim, as I mentioned, is to bypass inquiries into the meaning of these terms while directly associating them with Israel, again, bypassing any inquiries into what "Israel" entails.
When I push back against normalizing this narrative (and it is a single narrative made up of a very limited number of themes), I always refer to authoritative sources like the Rome Statute (https://www.icc-cpi.int/sites/default/files/RS-Eng.pdf), the UN Convention on Apartheid (https://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/documents/atrocity-crimes/Doc.10_International%20Convention%20on%20the%20Suppression%20and%20Punishment%20of%20the%20Crime%20of%20Apartheid.pdf), the UN definition of genocide (https://www.un.org/en/genocideprevention/genocide.shtml), the Jewish Virtual Library (https://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/a-definition-of-zionism), etc.
To no avail. Those who are bent on normalizing the use of these terms to deride Israel pay no attention. And frankly, I am tired of doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different result... Ok, I am not expecting different results, so don't call me insane.
So I am at a loss as to how these definitions could be clarified any further. As the saying goes, you can only lead a horse to the water, but you can't make him drink.
