(57,517 posts)his corrupt ass.
This war is just leading to more on-again-off-again wars.
It's been 75 years of this cycle...enough is enough.

(6,285 posts)Each time Israel went to war they were attacked or had an act of war done to it. In 1967, the one time Israel attacked first, the Egyptians blocked the Straits of Hormuz to Israeli ships. A blockade IS an act of war.
That's what the Cuban Missile Crisis was so dangerous. JFK blockaded Cuba. If Cuba attacked the blockade of the Soviet Union attempted to break the blockade, it was WW3.
Stop attacking Israel and this shit ends immediately. Turn over those that did Oct 7th and this ends immediately. Why aren't people demanding that? Why is the ball always in Israel's court?
Oh, I know the answer. Israel is the most evil country on Earth and Hamas are just innocent freedom fighters.

(57,517 posts)and for Israel to kick him out and try his corrupt ass. Seems you can't tell the difference between corrupt Netanyahu and Israel.
Well the hundreds of thousands of Israelis who are protesting in the streets and calling for his dismissal certainly can. What's up with you that you can't?

(6,285 posts)things there from here.
I've gone on record many times here saying I support Israel while wanting Bibi gone.
Needlessly aggressive and aloof. I believe I am done speaking to you, pal.

(57,517 posts)Is there a comprehension problem? Calling for warmonger Netanyahu to be ousted is not the same as attacking Israel, which I didn't do.
Got it?

(34,315 posts)but I also worry about who will replace him. And I feel the same about the other side. Netanyahu can kill Palestinians all day long, but for every Hamas member he destroys there are 3 more coming up.
First both sides need to be separated (I believe Palestine also needs their own state), build a wall between them if we have to. And then start working on diplomacy. These are 2 groups so entrenched in hate that I see no other way, and it will take time.
eta - I feel like I should add that I don't want to paint a broad brush of all Israelis and Palestinians being hateful. There certainly seem to be many zealots on either side that have shown they want to actually wipe out the other, but I'm also confident that there are many everyday folks who just want to live their lives in peace - on both sides.

(34,315 posts)we can argue all day/night about who is more to blame, but that gets us nowhere.
I like "Women Wage Peace" - the group Vivian Silver (murdered on Oct 7th) co-founded, to work with Palestinian women on peaceful paths forward. I believe many people want this, unfortunately we are not the loudest or most powerful people.

(34,315 posts)but I'm open to ideas from folks who live there. My connection is tangential at this point, having married into an American Jewish family (also with family in Israel, so I know some of the background but will not pretend to be any sort of expert).

I get my info from them being there, just like I rail against the CCP after living in China as long as I did and marrying a Chinese woman.

(1,324 posts)... conflate the state of Israel with Netanyahu, any more than they should conflate Palestinians with Hamas. And yes, Israel has every right to defend itself, but Netanyahu crossed a line, and calling him out for that is NOT antisemitic.
The horrors inflicted on Palestinian civilians are described and reported by doctors associated with NGOs that are on the ground. They are NOT the inflated statistics spewed by Hamas, but they DO qualify as war crimes. Herding civilian refugees into a specific area, calling it a "Safe Haven", and then bombing the shit out of it cannot be justified under ANY circumstances. Disallowing clean water, plastic sheeting, and sleeping bags is a war crime.
Israel and the Israeli people, do not deserve to be lumped in with Netanyahu and his cabinet of right wing psychopaths, any more than Palestinian civilians deserve to be lumped in with the scrofulous scum of Hamas. Netanyahu will never successfully eradicate Hamas. Instead, he has created a roster of new fanatic recruits for whatever bloodthirsty group takes their place.
