Another way to view proportionality

To provide context, Israel is a small country with approximately 9 million inhabitants and a geographical area comparable to New Hampshire. Proportionally, the 180 missiles launched at Israel would equate to roughly 6,800 missiles if adjusted to the US population, and around 80,000 missiles in terms of land area.

an assassination from morphing into World War I, the rise of Hitler, the Holocaust and eventually World War II.

On the micro level it prevents an oral argument from morphing into physical violence and physical violence from morphing into violent insanity.
