Related: About this forumWe've had enough': After IDF operation, Gazan ambulance driver says Hamas embeds in hospitals
In the video, the driver, reportedly apprehended on suspicion of involvement in terror activities, confirms his role as driver and paramedic at the Health Ministry in the Kamal Adwan and Al-Ahli Arab Hospitals.
"Hamas military operatives are present; they are in the courtyards, at the gates of the buildings, in the offices of Kamal Adwan Hospital," the driver stated. "They operate ambulances to transport their wounded military operatives, and to transport them for their missions, and this is instead of using the ambulances for the benefit of civilians." "We, the public in the northern Gaza Strip, are sick of this situation. We have had enough; they (Hamas) are stationed in the hospitals, stationed in the schools," the driver confirmed.
This comes as the IDF and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) carried out targeted operations in the Gaza hospital to counter terror activities in the area. Prior to the operation, the IDF facilitated the evacuation of civilians and made sure that emergency care continued, the military said. The military noted that within the hospital precincts, Hamas terrorists, some of whom had taken part in the October 7 massacre, had embedded themselves within the hospital. Following operations, troops arrested some 100 terrorists, including some who had tried to flee during the evacuation of civilians from the area.

(11,135 posts)His testimony is merely a change of vantage point. It describes matters already established from the inside of an ambulance.

(2,349 posts)Yes, I read the article which reads a lot like propaganda to me. If only references IDF sources, nothing independent. The video shows a lone man, who appears to be in a windowless room. Who knows if been coerced in to his statement or not.
I'm just saying the power imbalance so greatly in the IDF's favor, that I wouldn't be surprised if he said his mother was in Hamas.

(11,135 posts)And if you want to talk about what it looks like, it looks like a confession of a repentant sinner to me. What do you make of THAT?
See, it doesn't matter what it looks like to you. when you have sources clearly showing that what looks like to you has no basis in fact. If there were, it would not only look like something to you, it would be factual and look the same to everyone. And then you would have legitimate grounds to pile all your condescension on what it looks like to me.
You don't like the sources? By all means, find your own that show it is what it looks like to you. Show this man being coerced into a false confession, don't just speculate about it. "Who knows" is not evidence. "I wouldn't be surprised" is not evidence. "Reads a lot like" is not evidence. it's a damn opinion and everybody has one.
Is it too condescending of me to back up what I am saying with sources you don't like? Is it too condescending of me to to ask for sources that will back up what things look like to you?
Then you are damn right: I am a condescending son of a bitch.

(2,349 posts)I don't consider them to be very trust worthy. They have lied numerous times about their actions in Gaza. For example, when they "mistakenly", but repeatedly struck a convoy of relief workers from Chef Andres' kitchen.
I would find they man's testimony more convincing if it was given in the presence of independent journalists, which can be hard to find in Gaza since the IDF has been busy keeping out those that want get in, and shooting those already there.
Beastly Boy
(11,135 posts)Actually, I have two sources: the IDF and the ambulance driver's testimony recorded on video.
I would also find the Gazan ambulance driver's testimony more convincing under different circumstances, but this doesn't make it unconvincing. His testimony is consistent with events on the ground and past practices of Hamas and is not contested by anyone, including Hamas, which gives it some credence, especially in the absence of any evidence other than your thoughts and opinions.
And since you didn't post any additional information about the interrogation that might shed any light on your thoughts and opinions, I feel pretty confident in assuming you have none.
If you don't believe your own eyes and ears, it is on you to present a compelling reason why this is the case. Not just opinions.
