Speculation that DeSantis has destroyed himself politically by taking a stance against masks.

...Yes, speculation is speculation. I think the anti-mask stance of DeSantis will be his total downfall. Like not
following the law on seat belts. You got to wear a seat belt in a car, and you got to wear a mask when you go
outside for any reason....................
.... Taking the "freedom view" on mask wearing, is similar to helmet wearing for bicycle and
motor cycle drivers. People do it, because it saves lives. Prevents serious accidents and death. That is why people wear
helmets when riding bikes and cycles....For a time it was an option. Now it is not an option. I watch parents teach
their children to ride, and the kids have a helmet on. You just wear one, just like wearing a seat belt. No big deal, you
just do it. DeSantis is totally wrong on this, and he doesn't have a clue..

...But it is my opinion that most members of the GOP are not as stupid as DeSantis..especially on this issue..

Where is the "hot spot" for COVID 19 IN THE U.S.A.? That is all people need to know, in my opinion. We will all find
out over time..

The covid infection and death rates are skyrocketing in his state and digging in his heels on a no-brainer mitigation method.

Oh, well. Good. We'll get a new gov in Florida.

He appeals to a majority of Republican primary voters, which is far short of a statewide majority on its own. People who just 'vote Republican' are becoming less likely to do so when it means voting for this ilk. Even if they just don't vote at all, it's a help.

3. I've thought it similar to motorcycle helmets myself.

I remember when it was optional and some rider groups were dead set against it. I used to go helmetless sometimes myself. But I had a brother who was an ER doc who convinced me of the importance. At least I could be swayed by reality, unlike current crop of rethugs.

does not know how to save their own ass. Or.....protect their own ass as the case may be,.......

and that is indeed .....very stupid........side note:..I wonder how many in the "crop of rethugs"... put on a seat
belt every time they are in a car either driving, or going for a ride and someone else is driving? I wonder??

11. We had a good helmet law in Michigan until the repugs cancelled it.

Every time I see someone riding a motor cycle without a helmet I'm torn between feeling sorry for them and their very possible future and being angry that they are as stupid as the republican legislators. I was an OT, I know how easily brain injuries occur. I know how futures are ripped away with little or no chance for second chances. Sigh. I'm doing that a lot today. Sigh.

But I won’t believe that the pandemic of carnage-causing stoopid won’t be over until the politicians pushing this madness are repudiated by the voters.

10. I know some elderly Republican wack jobs who are scared to death of Covid.

They wear their masks and got the vaccine as soon as they could.

Florida surely has a lot of elderly Republican voters who don't like the idea of hospital and nursing home staff not being vaxxed, and who don't like going out to places where people don't wear masks.

Hopefully they will vote their interests, or maybe not turn out at all.
