The part about 9/11 is cool.
The matrix?
"In The Matrix, Morpheus describes where Neo has gone by entering him into the Matrix system. He shows a scene from New York in a Matrix TV including the World Trade Center 200 years in the past, through to what the towers looked like 200 years later. The towers lost a heavy amount of concrete like most New York buildings, but they were still both standing."

Celebration
(15,812 posts)Well I watched the middle one, which would be good for the Science group, or I might repost in the ASAH group (linking here of course.) If I get a chance I might watch the others, but that was just an OUTSTANDING presentation on the double slit experiment and deserves to be seen other places here. Thanks!

(3,992 posts)A hippy told me, and I couldn't believe him. I thought for sure the method of observation was effecting the wave. Later I studied it. There is a simple experiment to test what I thought called 'quantum erasure' experiment. We know observing wave causes it to become particle. So by observing it (mechanically) but erasing the result before we see it, and before it hits back wall, we can rule out our minds causing the collapse. But this does not cause the collapse! So the collapse is not caused by measurement, but but other things. So IT IS that weird.
I am not a physicist, but the idea I got is the wave collapses when so doing would cause a lasting state change in a system its interacting with. An event causing a lasting state change is a prerequisite for it being observable: to take a picture, the event must change the bits on the digital camera. To be seen, an event must create retinal and neural changes in our eyea and brains.
So the observation thing is incidental to creating these state changes. QM doesn't state that a human observer is required for collapse to happen, it can be changes in any system, so it allows it to happen all the time so that the classical world can emerge from the quantum.
IOW QM doesn't require the Matrix- a world created by observers- which is the part that scientists stress. But it does hint that we should look again at the age old questions that movie raises.
