Here's another paranoid conspiracy theory....

.....the U.S. government is hooked in to the servers of all the major web, email and social networking players and they are capturing everything you do and sifting it with key word searches. Guess I'm paranoid.

Wait. PRISM is true?

Sigh. We use to be the party that legislated against abuse with preventive laws.

Swoops into a seat, snaps open video phone, leans forward, gazes up with rapt attention. I'm listening.

....nothing to lose now that someone has stolen my patents. And sabotaged my brother's startup. And sold the information to my employer that I have diabetes. And used my credit card six times. And frozen my innocuous foreign bank checking account. And blackmailed me over the affair I had two years ago at the office.

Maybe you have nothing to lose?

some of the activists started complaining about infiltrators trying to get us all in trouble and manage things to make us look bad. I said they were just drama queens trying to make out they were more important than they were, and the strain of the activist calling was making them paranoid.

A few years later the Frank Church Committee found that these tales were true.

Six years ago when people were telling me that cellphones could spy on you and listen in even when they were off, and webcams could be turned on remotely, I thought they were nuts. Now of course we know it was all true.
