The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) took the unusual step Monday of acknowledging and dismissing rumors circulating on social media that its preparing for some sort of unspecified disaster in Puerto Rico.
FEMA is aware of speculation regarding the purchase of materials from around the United States, especially the Atlantic region, the agency said in a statement. There is no specific threat, catalyst or alert behind the purchase of additional supplies.
FEMA said it buys and supplies all year long and warehouses them around the nation to remain prepared for emergencies.
We have not made any extraordinary or unusual purchases, said FEMA Caribbean Region Director Alejandro De La Campa. Our daily message is for people to remain prepared and dont be confused my unofficial statements and misinformation.

Can't you talk some sense into them?
