TransPhobic Fulton Co., NY, Sheriff in charge of domestic anti-terrorism task force

In Fulton County, NY, Sheriff Giardino is now in charge of developing a domestic anti-terrorism plan.

I find this concerning. I have known Rich for decades. In the past few years he has become increasingly, I don't know, hyper politicized? radicalized?

At a recent fundraiser for the K9 patrol, he made unnecessary transphobic comments. He took the microphone (how this had ANYTHING to do with the event is beyond me) and introduced his new German shepherd puppy (cute). He said "right now she's a female but in a few months, our government says she can pick what gender she wants to be" . (ugh, ick, to use your cute puppy to make this stupid, provocative comment?)

He is also going around the county holding rallies with Assemblyman Smullen (R) whipping up gun owners about their rights.

In my opinion, an openly trans phobic person making comments at a rifle club, while whipping people up does not seem like the right pick for a domestic anti-terrorism post.
