It is about gender, how you identify and express yourself, not sexuality, who you are sexually attracted to.

Binary gender people identify and express as exclusively female or male.

Nonbinary people can identify as and express a whole range of gender qualities between the binary poles of female/male, mixing, alternating, creating entirely new categories, rejecting all gender categorization.

She is a genetic "male" but due to some weirdness in her androgen response she is a very masculine female. She is intersex, genetically male, expressed female w those genitals but not hyper feminine. Native Americans had a third category, basically other which they call dual spirit. Everyone who isnt cis F or cis M goes there. It isnt an "other" it's just a none of the above. They use them to provide persoective on any M/F issue.
