Facebook Agrees to Block Humor about Sexual Assault

http://samuel-warde.com/2013/05/facebook-agrees-to-block-humor-about-sexual-assault/

Under pressure from the Women Action & the Media group who published an open letter explaining that Facebook wasn’t doing enough to remove posts that condoned violence against women, Facebook officially announced today that they are revising their policy on “humorous” posts and images that make light of rape and violence against women.

Below is the official Facebook announcement:

the offensive humor and didn't have the ethics to know it was offensive from its first appearance.

Because there is no humor to be had on that subject. Sometimes it is just tragic and horrible. I worked in Adolescent treatment and so many of our young perps had been violated before they took a victim.

We had a teenaged girl, from a homeless drugged out family. When the girls went to foster care the foster parents caught the oldest girl fooling around with the little sisters. She was sent to us in disgrace. We had a lot of 'cool' rich kids who were in for being drug users, she did not fit in with anyone. Her father had given her injections of heroin before raping her.
The foster parents kept the little sisters and booted her out like trash.
And in treatment for perpetrators, your abuse history is not ever an excuse to be let off the hook. You take full responsibility, are found at fault, and you are blamed, and shamed, and made to feel guilty. I hope she did learn something and she doesn't ever do it again. But seeing her suffer at the hands of her psychiatrist made me hurt for her.
