Girl choir for Canterbury Cathedral

After more than 900 years of male singing, a girls' choir is to finally be introduced at Canterbury Cathedral.

It will mark the first time in the history of the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury that a girls' choir will be assembled under its own name.

About 20 girls aged from 12 to 16 will be drawn from local secondary schools to form the first Canterbury Cathedral Girls' Voluntary Choir.

The first auditions will be held on November 23 at the cathedral in Kent, and it is hoped that the choir will start by the end of the year....

Initially the girls choir will perform when the boys choir is on holiday. I guess that's a start. Better still would be an integrated choir.
