I try to ignore stuff I don't like, from HS classmates. I've been disappointed in a few of them, but don't mention it. They 'like' pics of my grandbabies.

I suppose it could have been predictable. When I knew her in HS she was one of those girls who always had a boyfriend and really didn't have many female friends because the boyfriend was where all of her time and energy went. And, of course, she had to placate is jealousy.
It should be no surprise that she would bow to the wishes of her husband at the expense of facilitating creativity in her children.

We were friendly, so it does make me kind of sad. Especially knowing she has a daughter.

if we let the kids chose kitten names I sure as hell wouldn't let my partner undo that decision, and certainly not because he's the "man of the house."

I don't know what it is, but I would imagine they could liven up an ordinary name. I think overriding the kids choices devalues the intellect of their kids.

I mentioned that it was sad that she has a daughter in another post. It's also sad that the dad has a son.

Then you are stuck with what they come up with, even if your White Male Kitten is suddenly Sugar Plum Fairy.

Of course, I don't know how old the kids are, but at any age, really, you don't just go back on that.

So many people I knew years ago are right wing bigots or they've gone off the deep end with religion. It's very depressing. I can't understand why women cater to that kind of nauseating display of ego.

I guess the key is using wisdom when accepting FB friends.

She goes by Vader. She is an evil little shit, so it turned out to fit, but the name came from my son wildly casting his eyes around the room for the first black thing he saw, in order to name her after it. Her siblings were named Luke, Lando and Yoda but they were all adopted out so I don't know if they kept those names. Luke did, but his people mommy works at the Christian radio station and thinks it's for the apostle.

Anyway, my point is that cats don't care, and at least the names have to be better than Darth Vader Voice Changer Helmet.

My ex MIL had a ridiculous superstition about black cats, which coincidentally has always been my favorite. We found a black kitten in a box on the side of the road, and I promptly named her Lucy. No reason, just always liked the name Lucy. When MIL heard, she quickly asked if was short for Lucifer. Ha!

I had a four year old who was unbeknownst to me, thinking quite a bit about Santa's visit in FIVE months. When I told him he should name the pup we got in July, he insisted on "Merry Christmas". She spent fourteen years with us as Krissy.
