Are MRA's a new thing?

So, I've been thinking about it.

Feminism today is probably... the third wave? The first being... (please forgive my elementary assumptions) the Suffragettes and Flappers, then the "bra burners" (I know that no bras were actually burned) and then today right?

Of those past instances... Was there a counter uprising of males that felt persecuted because of women asking for equal representation?

I can't recall, maybe it's because I wasn't around during that time. But nowadays I've seen GamerGate, MRA's and Return of Kings all at once and I'm wondering, how have they been dealt with before?

Or did they ever exist before? Because I don't know that I've ever heard of a counter movement to feminism before. I mean, the establishment before was primarily male dominated so maybe it was there. But were there legitimate, counter grassroots movements before?

If so, how were they dealt with? If not, how do we deal with the MRA's of today?

Here is a good article.

My daughter told me of a proposed meeting of mens" rights activists planned for our area. The speaker is a known rape apologist. After word was spread, the meeting was cancelled due to local criticism. A link below.

On their website they said they weren't cancelling but rather moving the meetups to undisclosed locations...

So yeah. How they hell are we supposed to deal with groups of men that feel they're truly entitled to a woman's body?

I would say dialogue, but sometimes only public shaming and protest seem to work. Does that change minds?

Similar to the KKK and other racist groups. They come out when they feel their brand of hate is accepted.

Regardless, MRAs have always existed but like everything else, the Internet has helped them because they have a platform that's open 24/7.

MRA's who think rape is not a valid reason for abortion are not new. Those ones are not even fighting for men's rights, so I don't know why they are in the group.

Other MRA's are pro-choice but fight for rights because they are being forced to pay child support for a child that is not theirs. There are judges in 50 states who ignore DNA tests.
