Related: About this forumWhy are 90%+ violent acts throughout history committed by men?
This is the most common factor when comparing violent crimes. It is more common than factors such as politics, religion, cultural norms, mental illness, etc. It is never addressed by MSM, governments, and societies. Why isn't it EVER addressed? Are we supposed to accept the fact that testosterone makes men do this so we should just accept it? We shouldn't try to prevent it knowing this fact? Why is it brushed under the rug by both genders, politicians, and societies and cultures around the planet? Men AND women have brains and can make choices...so why do men usually make the choice to commit violent acts and why do societies continue to accept it for thousands of years?!!!!!

(18,282 posts)...in grad school one of my Psych thesis topics was sex differences in the expression of depression. Men externalize depression...they act out......mostly violently. Women internalize it...they hold it in...get sick, cry, all the ' classic' signs of depression.

(4,602 posts)In part men are physically optimized for successful acts of violence (via increased size and strength, as statistical quantities). Men may also be psychologically optimized for violence, with lower capacities for empathy and lower thresholds towards activation of violence. Indeed it would be plausible for men to have lower inhibitions against conspecific violence given that they possesss the tools for such violence.
The extent to which the latter is innate is, of course, not clear, but one suspects that some of it is, at least.
