"Please note that only Hosts have access to this workspace, but it is not a completely private forum. Hosts with access to this forum have not signed any confidentiality agreement, and Hosts are free to discuss with other people what goes on in this workspace and how Hosts do their job. As long as you remain professional and polite in your postings here, you shouldn't have any problems. "
I am not sure why there is so much harping about betraying confidences. Yes, the 5 of you are hosts but you are hosts for your membership. If you membership wants clarification over some issue, we deserve to get it.
I don't care that much that you guys created a second forum to discuss hosting issues. I do care if you created the forum to circumvent transparency and circumvent the fact that the hosting forum here does not demand confidentiality.
Also, since the LGBT forum has been cited as a comparison here multiple times. There was a dust-up in the lgbt forum on DU2 as we had forum hosts/liaisons in DU2. The forum members demanded to see why a decision was made. Why the decision was made was revealed and the decision was overturned. This is not the only forum in which members demand transparency and clarifications from their hosts.

(36,486 posts)Group hosts are allowed to talk to eachother pm or some other way to discuss sensitive issues that might cause more harm being discussed out in the open.
There are ways to discuss concerns about other hosts without divulging private conversation behind their back to unknown posters, for reasons that are not transparent.
I guess we could ask for full transparency of all the emails neoma sent to non hosts about this issue, cause she is a host and by golly everything ought to be made public, right? We deserve to know, right??
Well, I don't really think she could because at this moment in time, I wouldn't believe she put out there. It could be easily manipulated.
Group Hosts perform a similar role to forum Hosts, but they have additional powers. 1) They can lock threads which they believe violate their group's stated purpose; 2) they can pin threads to the top of their group; 3) they can block out members whom they believe are not adhering to their group's purpose; 4) they can make other members Hosts of their group; and 5) they can remove any Host of their group that became a Host after they did.
If a group already has Hosts assigned, members who wish to become a Host must contact one of the current Hosts. Current Hosts may select any other member to become a Host, without restrictions. If a group does not have any Hosts assigned, members who wish to become a Host of that group must contact an Administrator for approval. Before assigning a Host, the Administrators may post a thread in the group asking for member feedback.
Groups are not required to have any Hosts assigned. If no Hosts are assigned, then nobody will enforce the group's Statement of Purpose.

In the end a trust was breached. That is a fact. People thought they were having private conversations, and human decency dictates you don't do what Neoma did.
