I just found a treasure at the used book store

It combined two of my favor subjects: feminism and science fiction. It's Marge Piercy's "He, She, and It", and it's an amazing work, dealing with global warming, species extinction, environmental degradation, the obscene power of corporations, gender roles, beauty, religion, and what it means to be "human". It's also a tender love story about a woman and a robot, and a retelling of the old Jewish tale of the Golem of Prague. Amazon (Ha! There are even a few of those in the novel, in the old-fashioned sense) has just re-issued it in paper back and for the Kindle.

Quite aside from sex scenes that float my boat far more than Fifty Shades, it's an amazingly prophetic novel about what could happen when the 1% succeed in finally wresting every last gram of resources and power from the rest of us, and what a Resistance would look like. Feminist cyberpunk at its best!

If anyone would be interested in starting a book discussion group, I'd love to suggest this one.
